Heather undertook her law degree at the University of Ulster on a part time basis whilst working in Thompsons Solicitors as a legal secretary, where she has been employed since 1993. She graduated in 2008 and immediately took up a place at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies at The Queen’s University of Belfast, where she passed the Certificate of Professional Legal Studies with Credit. She was apprenticed to Mark Jackson and admitted as a Solicitor in 2010.
Heather gained considerable experience in various areas of law during her time as a legal secretary, and as a result, is well placed to advise on a wide variety of matters now that she is able to put that experience into practise as a qualified solicitor. She deals mainly with litigation including personal injury claims, ranging from road traffic accident claims to accident at work claims, as well as employment law matters. She undertakes some criminal law work, representing clients in the Magistrates’ Court. Heather also deals with the preparation of Wills and probate matters.
